Federal Officer was a character and minor antagonist in Legends of the Fall. He was a corrupt police officer under the command of likewise corrupt Sheriff J. Tynert and working for the O'Banion brothers, John T. and James. He was the officer who, during a brutal ambush organized by John T. O'Banion against Tristan Ludlow to stop him from bootlegging on their turf, accidentally shot and killed Tristan's beloved wife Isabel, leading to Tristan nearly beating the officer to death until he is restra
